A wise man by the name of Epectitus once said, “Only the educated are free.”
Those words are the inspiration of my mission. This is the first installment (hopefully of many) in a series on economics. You may be thinking, “Economics? On CuriousTribe?” But the fact of the matter is that economics is at the heart of our everyday lives, and over the past several months I came to the realization that you can’t talk intelligently about politics or our country or gas prices or health care or taxes or basically anything (you get the idea) unless you have at least a basic understanding of economics.
As much as I would like to instantly tell you about how taxes are bad (and good), and why democrats are democrats and republicans are republicans, or about Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve System and what any of this has to do with healthcare (you may want to check out this article), I can’t. At least not yet. Because economics is a very complex subject and you have to understand a few basic concepts before you can make any sense out of the big issues.
I guess I have my work cut out for me, so I’m going to start working. But for now, let me leave you with a little blog to blog recommendation
Freakonomics is one of the most interesting economics blogs on the web, is always well-updated, and is easy to understand.
Here’s your first lesson in economics: nearly everything is opinion or speculation. Yes, this can be frustrating, but at the same time it’s a little liberating. If you don’t like something you hear or read, then just don’t believe it, but always be mindful of your source.
I’ll hopefully be seeing you again sometime soon.
Braden

Alright, you probably know her from all those little gifts you can buy on facebook. But Susan Kare has been around making icons since 1983. Always on the forefront of graphic design, she invented the icons for the original Apple computers. Then she created the icons we all grew up with on our Windows computers. Now, she works creating icons and logos, changing the world, one small graphic at a time.
