I have a confession.
As a child, I never imagined that we’d have a black president in my lifetime.
In my twenties, I was skeptical that gay marriage would be legal.
And in 2016, I thought it was impossible for Trump to win the election.
Things change.
Policies shift.
And we have the collective power to define where America goes next.
If the rules no longer work, we have an obligation to rewrite the rules.
2020 is a year of new clarity for many.
And a reminder that the fight continues for equality.
Thank you for protesting
For donating
For amplifying black voices
For brainstorming new ideas (Like abolishing the police)
And examining your bias and acknowledging your privilege.
But remember: we won’t solve structural racism in a weekend.
It will take dedicated commitment to make long-term, significant change.
